Bikes are meant
to be used.
Canyon, the direct-to-consumer company, has always been deliberate in its actions, something they’ve been doing since the start. Their first tri’ bikes appeared in 2009. The name: is Speedmax. There are the CF and AL models, designating carbon fiber and aluminum frames. In 2013, they updated the Speedmax, leaning more into UCI-sanctioned time trials; aero, light, and maneuverable. The pro-level bike featured integrated bars and a bayonet fork.

The next iteration in 2016 was still UCI-compliant featuring shapes tweaked more toward a tri’-friendly design. In 2021, Canyon embraced disc brakes and elongated shapes for better aerodynamics and on-bike storage. Speedmax has three builds, the CFR, Canyon Factory Racing, CF SLX, and CF. The first two have a hidden drink bladder and two onboard storage boxes. The CF seems to split the difference between the current CFR and the previous CF SLX.
